El patrimonio geológico como base de actividades al aire libre en la provincia de Segovia

Abstract

Geology is a great complement to the increasingly regular mountain bike itineraries and also it is a good lure to outdoor scholarship activities. This paper brings an analysis of the activities promoted by The Diputación Provincial of Segovia: routes for schoolchildren, who last year was 10 years old, and the initiative “pedalea tu provincia”. In the last times, it has been added new values by supporting the inclusion of informative aspects of some of the places of geological interest of the province. Prominence to the landscape, biodiversity or to traditions has not been removed in these activities, but all was explained with a geological meaning. This, and above all the activities with school children has been made to aware that this science is in relation to many aspects of our lives, and there is a geological heritage that shows us the best places to explain these important processes. All this without diminishing the attractiveness routes already assumed for participants (hiking, outdoor sports).
