Abstract

Political education is always actual because it maintains an intimate union with democracy that, in turn, experiences internal developments in the function of political life. Because of this, pedagogy has a vigilant role to discern the paths and challenges that democracies pose to political education, and that’s where this article comes from: the identification and analysis of new scenarios that affect both democracies and political education: patriotism, radicalization, sustainable development, and sexual identity. Each scenario yields a different result that can be synthesized around three basic ideas: that political education today is to combine unity with diversity, dialogue, and practical life.
