Abstract

At the end of the nineties, we had the honor of recovering the completely forgotten figure of the Catalan writer Ana María Martínez Sagi (1907-2000), whom we got to know personally. Her personal testimony helped us to write a book entitled Las esquinas del aire, which was to be published coinciding with her death. In this way, that woman of multiple talents (poet, journalist, athlete, promoter of feminism...) could be known. Ana María Martínez Sagi then gave us all of her unpublished work, with the task of divulging it twenty years after her death. While we were preparing the edition of this unpublished work, we discovered that the account of the biographical circumstances of Martínez Sagi that we exposed in Las esquinas del aire included some gaps and inconsistencies. And we found that this story had been spread elsewhere, in a multitude of academic and journalistic works. Thus we convinced ourselves that we should undertake a conscientious study of the biography of Ana María Martínez Sagi, as well as a new evaluation (and revalorization) of her literary work...
