Resumen
Vitamin A (vit A) is a key regulator of gene expression, influencing adipogenesis and lipogenesis in animal tissues. We studied the effect of dietary vit A restriction on the expression of candidate genes for adipogenesis, lipogenesis and vit A metabolism in porcine tissues. Forty Torbiscal pigs were given a standard or a vit A restricted diet from two months of age until sacrifice at 100 and 160kg LW. Vitamin A restriction modified the expression of three genes in adipose tissue (SCD and CRABPII were upregulated and RXRg was downregulated). In liver, IGF1 and ACSL4 were upregulated and LRAT and ACOX1 were downregulated. The results show coherent effects of the diet on retinol metabolism and agree with the potential relationship of vit A restriction with adipogenesis and lipid metabolism.
