Abstract

NThe present work aims to consider whether expanded video is a continuation of traditional cinema; or On the contrary, it supposes a discontinuity. For this, it is fundamental to define the differences with the cinematographic device, both epistemic and spatial. It is about explaining how and when the video it expands towards the museums, despite breaking the reception device, does not suppose an aesthetic-political rupture. There are expanded video alternatives that transcend the museum room and are located in the public sphere, as in the work Mudanzas, by the Ecuadorian artist María Teresa Ponce. Her proposal consists in building a video expansion in the public sphere: a more creative, critical, affective and collective space.
