Résumé

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive pathology with a high morbimortality and will soon become the fifth leading cause of death worldwide. This is due, among other causes, to the lack of early diagnostic markers that allow the identification and evaluation of incipient renal dysfunction, as well as early clinical intervention. As a result, the diagnosis of CKD occurs too late, when there is already an established renal damage that is difficult to reverse. This leads to significant cardiovascular (CV) mortality, a problem that is aggravated in diabetic patients. An important and often overlooked vascular complication of CKD is increased arterial stiffness, leading to various CV complications.
