Resumen

The history of the railroad in Colombia has left documents and traces on the territory, infrastructures andstations, some of high architectural value confirming the influence of the railroad with the social andeconomic development of the area. Academic experiences such as that of 2009 during the summer courseof Restoration served to reconstruct the history, the value of the railway of yesteryear in relation to apossible development of Ambalema as a cultural and tourist center of the country.Ambalema station was builted in 1921. Its style had preserved the local construction technique. In 1936 itwas decided to build a new station, whose style should be imposing and attract the attention of visitorsand merchants of the place, urban axis where it still survived the tobacco trade that was exported toEurope.
