Resumen

El ictus supone una emergencia neurológica. Es ampliamente conocido que la rapidez en la actuación a la hora del diagnóstico y el tratamiento específico de los pacientes con ictus es de vital importancia en su pronóstico funcional. Un reconocimiento precoz de los pacientes con ictus por los servicios de emergencias extrahospitalarios y los servicios de urgencias es imprescindible como punto de partida para un manejo rápido de los mismos. De cara a facilitar la actuación precoz, existen diferentes protocolos, incluyendo el código ictus. En esta revisión se actualizan las recomendaciones diagnósticas y terapéuticas a llevar a cabo de forma urgente para realizar una atención adecuada de los pacientes con ictus en urgencias.
