Abstract
There are reasons for both illusion and concern, but let’s avoid one eclipsing the other. Beyond the old promises of eurekas based on massive data, intelligent tutoring (in practice, branched teaching) from digital records, etc., the leap in AI, and potentially in its educational use (AIEd), that LLMs represent, with ChatGPT as the flagship, forces us to study, design, experiment, and evaluate tirelessly, with caution but with audacity, the new affordances.
