Resumen

The Amazonian universe encompasses countless themes: gender, mythology, archeology, social relations, «The Other´s vision», war, autochthony, etc. In short, a exclusively female society where women control all areas; which is therefore considered a matriarchy (apart from those concepts such as matrilineality, matrilocality or both). In fact, It has filled many pages, not just from the Antiquity, and It has remained on humans’ mind for millenniums. Besides, the matriarchal theories emergence during the 19th century has served to restart a discussion surrounding the asleep genre, but never forgotten, which has influenced enormously in the first contemporary analysis about one of the most known Greek myths. Indeed, many of the hypothesis that emerged then, such as the matriarchy or the existence of a Great Primitive Mother Goddess, now all overcame, are still being defended by diverse authors in order to guarantee the assumed real existence of a society with those features, which is depth worthy for a critical analysis.
