Abstract

PALLAY is a Quechua term meaning “to gather or harvest”. It is also used to refer to the process of creating textile iconography based on the observation of the territory. The objective of the educational proposal is the creation of a collective map of the territory in which the children live, based on the continuous observation of a natural element. Based on the textile tradition of Chinchero (Peru), each participant, after visiting the area where they live, will choose a natural element and become its guardian. To do so, they will create a symbol following a grid technique used for weaving, which will be placed on a large collective map that will bring together each participant’s elements.
