El ecofeminismo español en redes sociales. Acciones y posibilidades en Instagram

Abstract

Ecofeminism is an indispensable part of Gender Studies, even more so after the COVID-19crisis, which has fuelled the need for international, innovative and restrictive regulations on thecare of the planet and the relationship of human beings with animals and their environment.This proposal studies Ecofeminism in Spanish social networks, delving into the most usednetworks and the reasons why; the accounts with the most followers and engagement;the influencers who promote the movement the most and the best; and the hashtags thatviralise the problems, complaints and proposals. To achieve this, a mixed methodology isused: longitudinal bibliographic research of the key concepts, as part of the thesaurus of acompetitive R&D project on social networks and young Spaniards with a gender perspective;and a quantitative and qualitative diachronic study of the main Ecofeminismo accounts onInstagram and TikTok, as these are the social networks with the greatest growth during theCOVID-19 crisis and those with the greatest potential for growth according to studies andreports. It is concluded that a greater number of publications does not imply a greater numberof users; that the accounts studied have more followers on Facebook than on Instagram; andthat the originality and variety of the individual ecological proposals are the most striking part ofthe contents, with small actions, which show that change begins with simple gestures.
