Resumo

Esports, also known as electronic sports, have burst into our social reality, building an important industry to which more and more players are joining. These video games have an important attraction for the young population, with a large number of children. In this regard, there is some concern from different areas, highlighting the lack of maturity of adolescents to face these scenarios, in which they often coexist in toxic attitudes and behaviors that threaten the mental health and welfare of other players. In addition, many of these behaviors follow discriminatory patterns of gender and race, directed in a particular way towards groups within the game. It´s presented a quantitative research that has deepened about hostile behaviors and discriminatory treatment in esports, in players between 9 and 17 years old. Different types of video games have been taken into account, with the aim of finding out those in which the most toxic behaviors are found, as well as the patterns of discrimination that usually guide these behaviors, mainly gender and race. At the end of the article, it will be understood what these hostile behaviors are, how they manifest themselves in esports, in which type of games they are found with greater intensity and which groups are particularly harmed. All this will help to understand the reality of these video games, translating into tools for the prevention of toxic behavior in esports, especially with underage players.
