RAFAEL
CAMPILLOS LADERO

Rafael Campillos is Assistant Professor in the Department of Experimental, Social and Mathematical Science Education at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain. He holds a PhD in Education, a BSc in Physics, and a Master’s Degree in Teacher Education. He has teaching experience in science and physics education across undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes, and supervision bachelor’s and master’s dissertations related to teacher education and STEM fields. His research has focused on the biophysiological foundations of perception and their relationship with Physics learning, particularly temperature perception, leading to the development of a patent (Thermosensimeter). His current interests include bioparametric analysis of facial expressions and emotions in learning processes, perception and learning, science social perception and public inderstanding, and science education. He is a member of the “Neurodidáctica, Ciencia y Sociedad” research group at UCM and has participated in several R&D and educational innovation projects. He is a memember of the Spanish Association for Research in Science Education (APICE), the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA) and the Spanish Royal Physics Society (RSEF). He has collaborated with the National Museum of Science and Technology (MUNCYT) and has participated in several science outreach and amateur astronomy initiatives.
