Álvaro Briales is Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid. His thesis El tiempo superfluo: una sociología crítica del desempleo was devoted to the analysis of social transformations related to mass unemployment in Spain after the global crisis of 2008. Her interests, publications and translations focus on the sociology of unemployment and work, the critical theory of capitalism, social time and its relations with feminist perspectives. Previously, she has worked at the Fundación de los Comunes, the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is currently involved in the project "Evaluation of working conditions and employment in digital platforms with the methodology of the international network Fairwork" and the GENERA project (Gender Equality in the Uses of Time).
