Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Incidencias del Sistema Global de la Información Electrónica en el periodismo contemporáneo 1999. Supervised by Dr. Bernardo Díaz Nosty.

Professor of Journalism. Professor, researcher and guest visitor at: Università di Roma "Sapienza", Università di Siena, Università degli Studi di Perugia and Università degli Studi Firenze (Italy); UNMSM (Peru), UPB (Colombia). He is a regular speaker in courses, seminars and conferences at various international universities. He was Invited Professor at RCC Harvard University (Cambridge, USA) (VIII Seminar on Sociological and Political Research) and Plenary speaker at The Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Conference at University British of Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). He has been Co-founder (2005-08) of the Internet Journalism Observatory, Co-founder of the ITC Network (2016) and is President of the Media Studies Research Network (Common Ground, Park Research University of Illinois, USA). He was a Complutense del Amo Research Scholar Fellow at the Center for Science and Innovation Studies of the University of California, Davis (USA) and has been a visiting researcher (with a FAPESP scholarship) at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Sao Paulo, Brazil). . He has been Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Journalism (2017-19) and is Coordinator of the Master of Professional Multimedia Journalism at the Faculty of Information Sciences. He is the author and co-author of a hundred articles in specialized magazines, about twenty books and more than thirty book chapters. He is Director of the Complutense Research Group, Internet MediaLab (Center for Innovation and Interactive Media Studies) and Principal Investigator of research projects related to Cyberjournalism, New Media, Artificial Intelligence and disruptive Technologies.
