Gibrán Cruz-Martínez is an Assistant Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and Coordinator of the Master's in Political Analysis. In general terms, his work focuses on the determinants of welfare state development and the expansion of social policy. His research interests include subnational welfare regimes, targeting versus universalism, universal basic social pensions, and multilevel governance of the welfare state. He works primarily in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain. Previously, he was affiliated with the Institute of Public Goods and Policies (CSIC), the University of Agder (Norway), and University College London (United Kingdom). He is on the Editorial Board of Alternautas and Community and Interculturality in Dialogue and a member of the International Editorial Advisory Board of Social Policy & Society. Finally, he is Co-Convenor of the ECPR Standing Group on Political Economy and Welfare State Politics.
