Beatriz López-Medina holds degrees in English and German Philologies and a Ph.D. in English Linguistics (Universidad Complutense de Madrid-UCM). Civil servant (currently on leave) of the Ministry of Education (state-funded Schools of Languages . Escuelas ocficiales de Idiomas). Former Director of Master in Bilingual Education and Coordinator of Quality Assurance at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, currently works as Associate Professor (tenured -profesora titular) at the School of Education (UCM). She has extensive experience in the field of Quality Assurance in Higher Education and currently collaborates as an external expert for international agencies (Kosovo, Georgia, Eslovenia, etc.). Her research interests are bilingual education and the processes of acquisition, learning and teaching of additional languages. She obtained the 2nd national award in educational research as a part of a team with a project on a longitudinal study of a group on gifted children. In 2023 she also obtained the award for Best Social Responsibility Initiative, granted by FEDELE (the Spanish Federation of Associations of Schools of Spanish for Foreigners).
