Dr. Elena Salobrar García Martín holds a Diploma (2004) and Degree (2013) in Optics and Optometry from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She holds two Master's Degrees, one in Clinical Optometry of two years at the private institution Centro Boston-Continuing Education (2007), and another one in Optics, Optometry and Vision (2009) of 120 credits from the UCM. In 2019 she obtained the title of Doctor in Vision Sciences from the UCM with the Doctoral Thesis "Early detection of Alzheimer's dementia using ophthalmological psychophysical tests and optical coherence tomography as complementary tests" with a grade of Outstanding "Cum Laude" and obtaining the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in Medicine in the Fundamental section of the Complutense University of Madrid, course 2018-2019, the PhD Award 2020 in Basic Medical Sciences of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain, 1st Prize for Doctoral Thesis Santiago Grisolía. She has been accredited as Senior Lecturer by ANECA. She has completed her training with different stays. In 2007 at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, USA. In 2011 she enjoyed an Erasmus Master's Scholarship at the University of Latvia in Riga. In 2013 she was at the Ophthalmology Research Unit "Santiago Grisolía" at the Dr. Peset Hospital in Valencia. Since 2021, she is Visiting Scientist at the Spanish National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). Since 2020 she is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Optics and Optometry, although her link with the UCM extends from 2012, where she has progressively held the positions of Predoctoral Staff linked to a Research Project (2012-2013), FPU Predoctoral Fellow (2014-2019), Postdoctoral Research Staff linked to a Research Project (2019-2020). Within her teaching role, she actively participates in the teaching of the degrees of Medicine and Optics and Optometry. At postgraduate level, she teaches on the Master's Degree in Research in Vision Sciences (Interuniversity Master's Degree), on the Master's Degree in Hospital Optometry and on the Master's Degree in Optics, Optometry and Vision. She has participated in 4 Teaching Innovation Projects as coordinator. Regarding her research facet, she is part of the IIORC Basic Research Group in Vision Sciences (UCM-GR17-920105) (Group valued in 2018 by the AEI as GOOD (77/100). She was also a member of the RETICs OFTALRED of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III) and of the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria San Carlos (IdISSC), as well as a member of the Young Investigators Commission of the Society for Retina and Vision Research (SIREV). Her research activity has focused on the study of neurodegenerative pathology and its detection through the analysis of vision and the retina, with inflammation and subsequent degeneration as a common basis, both in humans and in experimental models. Among other merits, he has received several awards for the best publication in journals in her area of knowledge and several awards for the best paper presented at international congresses.
