Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Análisis del procesamiento de la estimulación visual etapas y organización de los recursos atencionales 1997. Supervised by Dr. Carmen Santisteban Requena.

Full Professor in the Department of Psychobiology and Methodology in Behavioral Sciences at Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). Coordinator of the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Methodology of Behavioral and Health Sciences (UCM, UAM, and UNED), ranked among the top three positions in the annual ranking published by El Mundo on the 250 best official master's degrees (Psychology category). He was part of the committee responsible for implementing the master's degree and its doctoral program. Director of the UCM research group Cognitive Psychology: Measurement and Modeling of Processes (20 members). The group has received very positive evaluations from the State Research Agency (AEI), scoring 88 out of 100 in the latest evaluation (December 2022), highlighting aspects such as group coherence (14/15 points), scientific production (38/40), research projects (17/20), and contracts (8/9). His research work has been recognized by National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) with positive evaluations for each evaluable six-year period (4 six-year terms). He has more than two hundred publications (H-index = 31, total citations = 4,975, data from UCM portal as of December 20, 2025), many in high-impact journals (Q1/Q2, JCR) in his research areas. He has served as Principal Investigator (PI) or team member in a dozen competitive projects (regional, national, and international) and has acted as external advisor in several international projects. In the field of knowledge transfer, he has formalized a dozen contracts with companies related to the construction of psychometric instruments. He is currently PI of the R&D project A teacher training model that integrates a gender perspective for the development of oral communication skills in High School and University (PID2022-1369050B-C22, 2023-2026), coordinated with the University of Barcelona. He has directed more than twenty doctoral theses, most of which received the highest distinction and some extraordinary awards; their authors are currently professors at universities and research centers in Spain, France, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia. He has served as evaluator for regional, national, and international agencies and reviewer for the most prestigious journals in his field of knowledge, and has acted as editor for JCR-indexed journals. He is currently director of the Revista Iberoamericana de Diagnóstico y Evaluación - e Avaliação Psicológica, a publication indexed in WoS and Scopus, edited by the Ibero-American Association of Diagnosis and Psychological Evaluation (AIDEP-AIDAP).
