Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Modulación del transcriptoma inmune de trucha por la proteína no viriónica (NV) del virus de la hemorragia septicémica viral (VHSV) nuevos hallazgos que correlacionan la secuencia de nv con su función 2018. Blanca Chinchilla Rodríguez graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and earned her PhD with a focus on fish immunology and aquaculture.During her doctoral studies, she also completed a master’s degree in immunology at the UCM School of Medicine. She then pursued postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA), applying CRISPR-Cas9 technology to investigate immune-mediated diseases. Upon returning to Spain, she continued her postdoctoral research as part of a MSCA-Cofund (UNA4Career) fellowship, focusing on aquaculture production and fish immunopathology. She also worked at the VISAVET Health Surveillance Center (UCM), investigating the immunopathology of animal infectious diseases with One Health implications. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Production at UCM, where her research focuses on enhancing animal production and welfare while minimizing environmental impact.
