Resumen

Este trabajo pasa revista a la literatura internacional reciente sobre la evolución de la Desigualdad de Oportunidades Educativas (DOE), tanto desde un punto de vista sustantivo como metodológico. Mientras que existe consenso sobre el proceso de expansión de la educación en buena parte del siglo XX, el desacuerdo es evidente cuando se trata de describir la evolución de la DOE. Actualmente hay un intenso debate sobre si la DOE permaneció constante o disminuyó en este periodo de tiempo. La controversia es de naturaleza fundamentalmente metodológica, reflejo de la pluralidad y heterogeneidad que en este sentido predomina en este campo de análisis. Una de las claves de este debate puede ser el déficit teórico de estos estudios, sobre todo de los que apuntan al cambio en la DOE
