Abstract

The title of the work we present below —Artistic practices as a tool for the socio-education and well-being of prison inmates— describes the nature of the experiences on which it focuses, their context and the viewpoints from which their results are analysed. We start from the initial idea, already proposed by several authors, that artistic mediation/education and community art projects are capable of fostering the social and community links and skills of the people who take part in them and also provide them with several individual improvements on a cognitive and emotional level. Given these characteristics, these processes are presented as positive tools for intervention in environments of social exclusion.
