Abstract
This paper analyzes the importance of translation for the creation of a technical lexicon – in the case we deal with a political lexicon –, focusing on the exemple of Aristotle’ Politics. In fact, words as “democracy”, “aristocracy”, “oligarchy”, which we use nowadays to define the different political systems, or the same term “politics” appear in vernaculars (French, Italian, Spanish) after the translation of this Aristotelian work, although the initial opposition of some humanists such as Leonardo Bruni.
