Abstract

Nowadays, one of the big challenges considered in Higher Education is found in the motivation of the students to play an active role in the learning process. With this aim, in this work we describe the experience made by veterinary students, consisting in the creation of a personal therapeutic formulary as part of the practical lear- ning of the subject Exotics and Wild Animal Therapeutics. Students have created, along an academic course, a formulary that is comprised by 23 datasheet referred to active principles with a major use in this clinical specialty. During the preparation, the participation of students in this activity, the achievement of skills applying clinical and therapeutics criteria and the development of a critical appraisal applied to the exotic animal medicine have been positively valued. From a teaching point of view, the results have been valued as highly positives and we believe that they can be consider as a stimulating tool for an active implication of students in their own learning. For this reason, it could be used as a complement to the classical and traditional systems in the study and rationale use of veterinary medicines.
