Lecturer in the Department of Painting and Conservation-Restoration. Abstract: Esther Moñivas Mayor (Madrid, 1978) is Lecturer in Complutense University of Madrid. She holds a Ph.D. summa cum laude in History of Art from the Complutense University of Madrid and she has been accredited by the National Quality Assessment and Accreditation Agency of Spain as a “Profesora Titular”. She received both a Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Aesthetics and Art Theory from the Complutense University of Madrid and a 5-year-Degree in History of Art from the Complutense University of Madrid. She also studied in the Institute of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of Madrid (ESCRBC), where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. She has received grants from the Spanish National Credit Institute (ICO) and the Fundación Especial Caja Madrid for postgraduate studies and research. As professional she has worked in the fields of conservation-restoration of artworks, exhibition curatorship and museums education, both in private and public institutions. Since 2019 she has been a member of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, working in the Department of Painting and Conservation-Restoration. Between 2013 and 2018 she has been Lecturer at Universidad Internacional de la Rioja, Centro Universitario de Tecnología y Arte Digital (U-TAD) (2018-2019), and Nebrija University in the fields of Aesthetics and Art History (2013-2018), where has led the Cross-Sectional Surveys in Contemporary Artistic Creation (ETCC) Research Group. She has given talks and published papers at universities and artistic institutions both in Spain and abroad, and she has been researcher in seven research projects, two of them international. She was Guest Researcher at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien (2014) and she currently is member of three research groups: Safeguarding Cultural Heritage (Una Europa Doctoral Programme in Cultural Heritage), Prácticas artísticas y formas de conocimiento contemporáneo (UCM), and IMARTE. Investigación en procesos artísticos y nuevas tecnologías (UB). She is Principal Investigator of the teaching innovation group “Entre Artistas y Restauradoræs. Nuevos Formatos de Interacción e Intercambio de Conocimiento” and has supervised more than fifty final degree and final master's projects. She works at the intersection between academic research, curatorial projects and artistic practice. Her research deals with the relationship between art, science and technology, analyzing the operative-imaginative dimension of new media and materials. She documents the processes of current artistic practices from transdisciplinary methodologies and develops theoretical-practical research from the perspectives of Digital Humanities, New Materialisms and Critical Heritage Studies. She is part of the artistic collective Tejidos de agua and participates in diverse projects with performative and intermedia pieces.
