Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Nuevas formas de vehiculización de agentes hipotensores para el tratamiento del glaucoma 2011. Supervised by Dr. María del Rocío Herrero Vanrell, Dr. Irene Teresa Molina Martínez.

Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor) in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Food Technology at UCM. In September 2022, I obtained a positive evaluation to be promoted to Tenure Professor (Profesor Titular) by ANECA (the National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation in Spain). My research field is ophthalmic drug delivery. I'm specialized in the design, development, characterization and evaluation of innovative ocular formulations based on biodegradable micro- and nanosystems, able to encapsulate and control the release of active substances in the eye (topical, periocular and intraocular administrations). I received my Ph.D. with European Mention in Pharmacy in 2011 at Complutense University of Madrid (UCM, Spain), with several studies related to the development of topical ophthalmic formulations for the treatment of ocular hypertension associated with glaucoma. These studies, directed by Prof. R. Herrero-Vanrell and Prof. I.T. Molina-Martínez, were performed in the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UCM. During that time, I obtained international research experience in a scientific stay as a pre-doctoral fellow in the Centre for Drug Research in Helsinki, Finland, directed by Prof. Arto Urtti. Thereafter, starting in 2011, I performed a postdoctoral research working for the PANOPTES project (Peptide-based Nanoparticles as Ocular Drug Delivery Vehicles) under the 7th Research Framework Programme of the European Union. During 3 years (Nov. 2014 - Dec. 2017) I have been working at the Sanitary Research Institute of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital, as a Research Scientist of the Department of Ophthalmology, directed by Prof. J. García Feijóo.
