Rafael Ruiz Andrés is Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid. He obtained his PhD (with international mention) in Sciences of Religions from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2019. His doctoral thesis has been awarded the extraordinary doctoral prize and the national prize of the Spanish Society of Sciences of Religions (SECR). His main research interests focus on the sociological study of religious dynamics, and in particular on topics such as irreligion, the historical sociology of secularisation, religious metamorphoses in contemporary times, interreligious dialogue and post-secularisation, topics on which he has published articles in indexed journals, book chapters and the book "La secularización en España" (Editorial Cátedra, 2022). He has also given more than 40 papers and communications on these topics at national and international conferences, such as those organised by the European Association for the Study of Religion (2017), the Chilean Society for the Study of Religion (2017; 2020), the European Academy of Religion (2018, 2019) and the Annual Conference of the Memory Studies Association (2019). During his research career, he has been part of the Europaeum Scholarship Programme (2018-2019), coordinated by the University of Oxford, and the KAICIID International Fellowship Programme on intercultural and interreligious dialogue (2021). He has carried out research stays at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE, Paris) and at the Social Research Institute of University College London (UCL, London). He has been a member of different projects and research groups, principal investigator of the research project "Al Jisr: [The Bridge]: Promoting the Integration of the Unaccompanied Minor Population Residing in Spain Through Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue" and coordinator of the "Wikipedia madri+d Project. Creation and improvement of scientific content in Spanish" (Fundación Madri+d / Wikimedia España). He is the secretary of 'Ilu. Revista de Ciencias de las Religiones.
