Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Complutense University of Madrid. PhD in Contemporary History from the Complutense University de Madrid. Degree in Political Science from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Professionally and academically, she has been dedicated to the rights of indigenous peoples and Afro-descendants in Latin America. Her lines of research focus on the construction of the identity and citizenship of Afro-descendant populations in Spanish America from the 18th to the 20th centuries. She has collaborated in several European H2020 projects and Spanish R&D projects funded by the Spanish Research Agency (AEI). In 2023, her research work has been awarded with the 1st Prize of the Nuestra América Competition in its 2023 edition, granted by the Diputación de Sevilla, the CSIC and the University of Seville.
