Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Efecto de la adición de lipasa pancreática en la maduración de embutidos crudos curados 1994. Supervised by Dr. Juan Antonio Ordóñez Pereda, Dr. Lorenzo de la Hoz Perales.

She holds a Degree in Veterinary Medicine and a PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, where she was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. She teaches courses related to food preservation, processing, and packaging at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Her research focuses on food preservation and microbiological food safety, with projects involving emerging technologies, such as light pulses, and the reduction of preservative additives through the development of novel antimicrobial agents. She currently serves as Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Academic Affairs, and Institutional Relations at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and as Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Veterinary Sciences.
